The Department of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics, Luddy School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering at IU Indianapolis, invites applicants for two Lecturer appointments in the Biomedical Engineering Program. Exceptional instructors are being sought to join our fast-growing department. The responsibilities of the position include teaching in the Biomedical Engineering Program, developing courses for the traditional classroom setting, computer labs, and for online education; help setting program goals, developing and continually updating the curriculum and training activities; contributing to the recruitment and marketing of the program; interviewing, evaluating and advising students; engaging in scholarly activity; serving as a member of the school and departmental committees; maintaining current knowledge in the field through active participation in professional organizations, collaboration, practice and research; and serving on professional committees. The appointment can begin immediately on the IU Indianapolis campus but will remain open until filled.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering and Informatics (BHI) is home to a dynamic and interdisciplinary group of 11 faculty members and over 300 students across its Health Informatics, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Informatics (BMI), and Health Information Management (HIM) programs. The Department offers a B.S. in HIM, a B.S. in BMI, an M.S. in Health Informatics, an M.S. in Bioinformatics, seven Graduate Certificates, a Ph.D. in Informatics - Health and Biomedical Informatics Track, and a Ph.D. in Informatics - Bioinformatics Track. Degree programs in Biomedical Engineering are currently in development. The faculty in the department conduct groundbreaking, externally-funded (e.g., NIH, NSF, PCORI, VA, and AHRQ) research in the areas of clinical and health informatics, systems interventions, community participatory research, human-computer interaction, usability, mobile technology and bioinformatics. Indiana is home to large healthcare exchanges, including Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE) and Michiana Health Info Network [MHIN], as well as multiple healthcare systems within Indiana. BHI enjoys close collaborations with other departments in the school and with the Regenstrief Institute, a pioneering institution in healthcare information technologies. Other partnerships include the IU Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (CCBB), the IU Center for Bioethics, the VA Center for Health Information and Communication (CHIC), Indiana University Health (one of the largest health care organizations in the Midwest), the Schools of Nursing, Dentistry and Fairbanks School of Public Health, as well as the Purdue Schools of Engineering and Technology and Science.

Basic Qualifications
Requirements for this appointment include a Ph.D. or M.D. degree, preferably in Biomedical Engineering or a related field or a master's degree (MS/MPH/MBA) with 10+ years of experience in Biomedical Engineering. We are especially interested in applications from candidates with experience and expertise in biomedical device engineering, biomedical system design, mobile technology, imaging technology, bio-nanotechnology, engineered tissue or organ design, including all regulatory aspects, device quality control/testing, analytics, wearable/mobile health technology, etc.
