General Summary of Position
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for one or more tenure-track faculty positions in Statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting September 1, 2026.
Candidates at higher ranks may be considered based on qualifications; however, preference will be given to applicants at the Assistant Professor level.
The department welcomes applications from all fields of statistics, with preference for candidates engaged in interdisciplinary research and demonstrating strong potential for high-quality research output. The successful candidate is expected to:

Publish in peer-reviewed journals

Initiate and participate in funded research activities

Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching
About the Department
UMass Lowell’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers:

Bachelor’s degrees in Statistics (BS) and Actuarial Studies (BA)

Master’s degree in Probability & Statistics (MS)

An interdisciplinary Computational Mathematics Ph.D. program in collaboration with Computer Science

Earned Doctorate in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or a closely related field by September 1, 2026
