Position Overview

Cornell University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in numerical relativity. The successful candidate will conduct independent research in general relativity, numerical relativity, and computational physics, collaborating with members of the Astrophysics Theory Group.

Research Environment:

  • Cornell Relativity Group: Saul Teukolsky, Eanna Flanagan, Nils Deppe, Larry Kidder, Mike Boyle, Will Throwe

  • Opportunities to collaborate with the Theoretical Astrophysics Group

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent research in numerical relativity and computational physics

  • Prepare research papers and reports

  • Present research findings at scientific conferences

  • Supervise and mentor graduate students as appropriate


Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Astrophysics, or related field

  • Experience in numerical relativity or computational physics

  • Strong knowledge of general relativity theory

  • Ability to conduct independent research and collaborate effectively

Preferred:

  • Experience in mentoring or guiding graduate students

  • Proven track record of publications and conference presentations
