Position Overview
TCDM seeks a Periodontist faculty member to teach and mentor predoctoral dental students in the three-year DMD program. The role combines didactic, preclinical, and clinical teaching, patient care oversight, and scholarly activity, particularly in oral-systemic health research. Faculty will also collaborate with the CRET Innovation Center and integrate emerging technologies, including AI, into education and clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Mentorship

Deliver instruction in Periodontology across didactic, preclinical, and clinical settings.

Supervise students’ patient care with evidence-based practices.

Provide daily feedback and competency assessments.

Develop remediation plans and monitor student progress.
Curriculum & Scholarly Activity

Participate in curriculum design and alignment with CODA standards.

Engage in research and scholarly activities, focusing on oral-systemic health.

Integrate AI and emerging technologies to enhance student learning and clinical practice.
Clinical Service & Quality Assurance
-
Oversee students’ clinical case management and patient care quality.

Collaborate with clinical faculty and staff to ensure ethical, high-quality care.

Participate in quality assurance initiatives, including chart audits.
Collaboration & Service

Engage with faculty across disciplines for an integrated educational experience.

Support interprofessional education programs.

Contribute to faculty development, committees, and community service.
Requirements
-
DMD or DDS from a CODA-accredited institution.
-
Advanced education certificate in Periodontology from a CODA-accredited institution.
-
License to practice dentistry in Kentucky or faculty limited licensure.

Board certification or board-eligible preferred.

Experience supervising predoctoral dental students preferred.
