Position Overview:
The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University invites applications for a faculty position in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This full-time, non-tenure track appointment reports to the Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Faculty responsibilities include didactic and clinical teaching for predoctoral students, postgraduate residents, and peers, as well as providing patient care and contributing to scholarship and service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching/Instruction (55%): Deliver clinical and didactic instruction to students and residents in multiple educational venues. Evaluate student and resident performance and provide formative feedback.

  • Clinical/Patient Care (30%): Provide oral and maxillofacial surgical services in clinical and hospital settings, including participation in hospital call coverage.

  • Scholarship (5%): Engage in professional development, continuing education, and preparation of presentations.

  • Service (10%): Participate in public and professional service, community engagement, and research development activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • DDS or DMD from an ADA-accredited dental school.

  • Graduate of a CODA-accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program.

  • Eligibility for American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS).

  • US dental license and eligibility for Georgia Board of Dentistry licensure.

  • Assistant Professor: early career with relevant education, training, and experience.

  • Associate Professor: mid-career with at least five years at Assistant Professor rank and relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in research and scholarship in OMFS.

  • Graduate of a CODA-accredited OMFS/MD combined program.

  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements, and is subject to availability of funds. Full-time benefits include medical, dental, vision, 13 paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more. Eligible employees may participate in the Tuition Assistance Program after six months of employment.
