Position: Adjunct – Aviation Maintenance Technology (Aircraft Non-Metallic Structures, AMT 2105)

Description:
Columbus State Community College seeks a qualified instructor to teach Aircraft Non-Metallic Structures (AMT 2105). The course runs late March through early May, with classes scheduled between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Additional opportunities may be available to teach other Aviation Maintenance Technology courses.

The Adjunct faculty role emphasizes quality instruction, student engagement, and inclusive teaching strategies, while maintaining a positive classroom environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Teach assigned courses as scheduled

  • Design inclusive curriculum and embrace diversity

  • Support students with different learning needs

  • Use technology effectively to support course objectives

  • Maintain accurate records, attendance, and timely grades

  • Provide students with detailed syllabi and clear expectations

  • Assess student performance with appropriate evaluation methods

  • Participate in departmental meetings and professional development

Student Engagement & Advisement

  • Foster a collaborative learning environment

  • Use technology to enhance communication

  • Advise students on program pathways, careers, and transfer opportunities

  • Refer students to academic and support services

Minimum Qualifications

  • FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant rating

  • Four (4) years of industry experience

  • Valid State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License (or ability to access work sites)

  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered

Compensation & Hours

  • $56.88 per contact hour

  • Two hours = one contact hour

  • Maximum 12 contact hours per week

  • Part-Time
