Basic Function
Kent State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Aeronautics/Aviation Science at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, curriculum development, and service in support of the School of Aeronautics’ academic and research programs.
Responsibilities

Conduct high-quality, externally funded research in aviation/aeronautics or related fields.

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in aeronautics and aviation science.

Mentor students and contribute to curriculum development.

Collaborate with college research centers (e.g., Center for Advanced Air Mobility, Cybersecurity, Digital Engineering Design Center).

Support expansion of graduate and interdisciplinary initiatives.
-
Participate in service activities, advising, and community engagement.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Ph.D. in aeronautics, aviation science, aerospace engineering, or related field (by appointment date).

Evidence of (or potential for) research excellence, publications, and external funding.

Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or potential at undergraduate/graduate levels.

Familiarity with FAA regulations, CTI program standards, and aviation education issues.

Commitment to collaborative teaching and scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Industry or academic experience in flight operations, aviation management, UAS integration, aviation safety/policy, air traffic management, or airspace systems.

Experience with interdisciplinary research and partnerships (government, private sector, applied research).

Knowledge of FAA Part 141/61 training or other aviation certification standards.
Working Conditions
-
Light physical work (moving up to 20 lbs occasionally).

Frequent on-campus travel; occasional off-campus travel.
