Position Summary
Adjunct faculty are appointed on a course or module basis per term. The HVAC-R Adjunct Instructor will teach courses in a blended learning format (on-campus/off-campus, weekdays/weekends, day/evening). Responsibilities include curriculum delivery, student engagement, and alignment with certification standards such as:

Entry-Level HVAC-R Technician Certification(s)

EPA Section 608 and 609 Certifications

OSHA Construction Industry Safety Standards
Adjunct instructors report to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Duties & Responsibilities
Instruction & Learning Facilitation
-
Teach HVAC-R courses using lectures, hands-on activities, and multimedia.

Incorporate real-world case studies and interactive learning methods.

Provide constructive feedback and support to help students succeed.
Managing Learning
-
Implement curriculum aligned to industry standards and certification outcomes.

Track student progress, attendance, assignments, and grades.

Collaborate with Student Services to support learners facing challenges.
Student Engagement
-
Hold office hours for additional learner support.

Foster a collaborative, inclusive classroom environment.

Adjust teaching methods based on learner feedback.
Organizational Engagement
-
Collaborate with colleagues to enhance program quality.

Stay updated on HVAC-R industry trends and certifications.

Participate in professional development and contribute to continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced credentials or professional experience accepted in lieu of degree.

Five years of HVAC-R industry experience (preferred).
-
Three years of teaching experience in adult learning or professional development.

Familiarity with learning outcomes, course design, and blended learning formats.

Proficiency in technology tools (LMS, productivity software, video conferencing).

Strong collaboration skills and commitment to student success.
Working Conditions

Based in Washington, D.C.

May require local travel, evening, or weekend teaching.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods.

Lift objects up to 25 lbs.
