Position Summary

The Department of Engineering, Data, and Computer Sciences in the College of Business, Engineering, and Technology at National University invites applications for a full-time Associate or Full Professor and Academic Program Director (APD) in Construction Management.

This faculty-administrator role combines teaching, scholarship, and program leadership. The APD will direct the BS in Construction Management program, overseeing curriculum, faculty engagement, accreditation, and student success strategies. This position may be remote or hybrid for San Diego-based candidates.

Essential Functions

Teaching & Curriculum Oversight

  • Teach and develop online/onsite courses in Construction Management.

  • Serve as Academic Program Director for the BS in Construction Management.

  • Ensure alignment with accreditation and compliance standards.

  • Create a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Scholarship

  • Maintain an active scholarship agenda aligned with teaching university expectations.

  • Engage in professional development to support subject-matter expertise.

Service & Leadership

  • Participate in shared governance, committees, and program advisory boards.

  • Lead program assessment and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Collaborate with faculty, industry, and accrediting bodies (ABET, CMAA, ACCE).

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Terminal degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (Ph.D. preferred).

  • 5+ years full-time faculty teaching experience in higher education.

  • 5+ years of industry experience in construction management, including current practices and regulations.

  • Proven record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and program management.

  • Experience with curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation (ABET, CMAA required; ACCE strongly preferred).

  • Experience teaching in online learning environments.

  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to inspire students and faculty.

Special Conditions

  • Background check required.

  • Annual travel required for NU Commencement (if held onsite).
