Position Highlights

The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Arizona invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor to teach an introductory aerospace engineering course.

This course introduces students to airplanes and space vehicles as aerospace systems, covering:

  • Fundamentals that describe aerospace systems

  • Aerodynamics, airfoils, and wings

  • Airplane performance, stability, and control

  • Aircraft and rocket propulsion

  • Fundamentals of orbital motion

  • Elements of vehicle conceptual design

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures.

  • Create, grade, and provide feedback on formative and summative assessments.

  • Offer student support via email and in-person (during office hours).

  • Perform additional tasks as needed for effective course delivery and assessment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of all topics covered in introductory aerospace engineering.

  • Strong communication and instructional skills.

  • Ability to engage and mentor undergraduate students effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience teaching or mentoring undergraduate engineering students.
