About

I am Dr. Maqshoof Ahmad, serving as Professor and Chairman at the Department of Soil Science, Institute of Soil and Water Resources, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. I received a PhD in Soil Science (Soil Microbiology and Biochemistry) in 2011 from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan, and Postdoctoral Research Training from the Institute of Agricultural Sciences in the Tropics at the University of Hohenheim, Germany, under the scholarship of the World Food Security Center. I have received several certificates and training related to instrumentation and laboratory techniques, management of research laboratories, and accreditation documentation. My work explores plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria, endophytic microorganisms, BNF, microbial diversity, biofertilizers, integrated nutrient management, stress mitigation, soil carbon dynamics, and bioremediation. A major objective is to reduce dependence on synthetic fertilizers by harnessing beneficial microorganisms to enhance nutrient-use efficiency, improve plant growth, suppress soil-borne pathogens, and increase crop tolerance to stresses. My research has contributed to developing microbial inoculants and biofertilizer technologies through the isolation and characterization of multifunctional microbial strains. I also investigate climate-smart agriculture, carbon sequestration, soil restoration, and sustainable land management, with an emphasis on translating scientific discoveries into farmer-oriented technologies. My work has resulted in more than 140 peer-reviewed publications, thousands of citations, and numerous nationally and internationally funded research projects that promote interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation. I am committed to mentoring postgraduate students and young researchers while fostering scientific integrity, innovation, and interdisciplinary research. My future research will integrate microbiome engineering, metagenomics, artificial intelligence, precision agriculture, and remote sensing to develop next-generation biological solutions for resilient agricultural systems and support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
